          Risk Management Professionals Inc. is providing a complimentary LOPA Seminar. This seminar will be held at our office in Mission Viejo, CA.

          The design of contemporary safety systems often utilizes high-pedigree Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for highly hazardous processes. A common analysis technique for the determination of the reliability needed for the safety feature (often measured by Safety Integrity Level - SIL) is a Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA). Best practices for the evaluation of high consequence events may include the use of LOPA to determine if SIS are required. This seminar will address:

• Fundamentals of LOPA
• Sensible LOPA Applications
• Effective Infusion Into the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
• SIL Allocation vs. SIL Verification
• Avoiding Pitfalls and Over-Analysis

The Southern California Society for Risk Analysis (SCSRA) is hosting a dinner meeting at the Torrance Civic Center on November 19, 2008. The guest speaker is Mr. Brandon Goshi from the Metropolitan Water District, who will be discussing Drought Risks in Southern California and answering questions regarding the drought threat, water rationing and conservation, and potential economic impacts throughout Southern California. The SCSRA Dinner Meetings are a unique opportunity to network with members and interact with the guest speaker to get your specific questions answered.
