Update: Electronic Reporting Requirements for Sanitary Sewer Systems

In accordance with the Monitoring and Reporting Program (MPR) set forth in Order NO. 2006-2003,"Statewide General Waste Discharge Requirements for Sanitary Sewer Systems", collection systems need to start the Online Sewer System Overflow (SSO) reporting. All enrolees must obtain a SSO Database account and receive a "Username" and "Password" by registering through the California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS). Upon receiving an account, systems must complete the "Collection System Questionaire".

There are three primary SSO reporting requirements and each have different online reporting criteria:

• Category 1 SSOs must be reported to the Online SSO System as soon as possible but no later than 3 business days after the Enrollee is made aware of the SSO. A final certified report must be completed through the Online SSO System, within 15 calendar days of the conclusion of SSO response and remediation.
• Category 2 SSOs must be reported to the Online SSO Database within 30 days after the end of the calendar month in which the SSO occurs.
• If there are no SSOs during the calendar month, the Enrollee must provide, within 30 days after the end of each calendar month, a statement through the Online SSO Database certifying that there were no SSOs for the designated month.
